BUILDING THE G&G COLLECTION

Our selection of G&G own-branded country and equestrian products have undergone a rigorous trial and testing process before being accepted into our collection.

Read on to find out more about Becs’s approach to curating the G&G collection.

01 | Artists & Makers / Skilful Suppliers

The first step in the development of a new product is sourcing the right supplier for the task. For the G&G brand, this requires artistry and creativity in design but also fair pricing and small-batch production. How well a supplier can interpret my vision for a product is a key consideration in choosing the right supplier and, as always, they must demonstrate the ability to create something a little bit different, in true G&G fashion.

Trusted suppliers such as PC Racewear who I worked with in the design of our iconic traditional training breeches have demonstrated all these qualities and more, resulting in the best-selling breeches featuring in our collection today.

02 | Tried, tested and tried again

Once a supplier has been identified, we undertake a thorough trial period. This begins with tasking the supplier with producing a sample product, based on the design specification I have composed for a new item.

When a sample is received, I assess it against my required features as well as thoroughly reviewing the quality and technicality of materials, and the craftmanship used in the design and production.

Very often, a further two or three prototypes will be required to achieve a product which bears the craftmanship and distinctiveness synonymous with our brand and its reputation for durable, high-quality and fairly-priced pieces.

03 | International outlook with authenticity at heart

At G&G, we pride ourselves on offering the highest quality of products for your country and equestrian needs. During my time in America, I found that the range and quality of products available there was unrivalled in the range of design choice and technology of fabrics. This is particularly true of the leather; it is often fantastic quality for a reasonable price. For this reason, our selection of G&G leatherwear is made with leather from the best tanneries in the USA and Argentina, and are crafted by family run businesses each with over 40 years experience.

Whilst our collection benefits from international craftmanship by allowing us to offer something a little bit different to home markets, we are committed to preserving the authenticity of materials and supporting traditional industries. For example, our collection of G&G field jackets, releasing this Autumn, are made with the highest quality traditional tweed from a Scottish mill and are built to last at a great price.

04 | Brand Catalogue

Just like the products in our signature collection, any new brand must receive the G&G stamp of approval before joining our offering. We thoroughly test each prospective item to ensure it meets the standards of durability, style and affordability expected from our collection, before making them available to customers.

Often new pieces are the answer to a specific need, like our Pravins Sellier Wide leather Stirrups. These G&G “OGs”, resolved a personal frustration with traditional stirrup leathers that were just too quick to stretch and too expensive to replace. Other times, a new brand is the result of a spontaneous discovery, like Smathers & Branson needlepoint accessories spotted on a dash through Grand Central Station in NYC.

What we look for are products that combine classic styling with advanced design features, that are of limited or exclusive availability in the existing market, and that offer something a little bit different to what our customers will have seen and tried before. Brands like Outback Trading do just that, combining functional designs with Western flair that are equally at home in the Great British outdoors.

G&G is proud to be home to a unique catalogue of well-designed, stylish products from boutique brands across Great Britain, Europe and the Americas.
