The ultimate in luxury, these sheepskin lined numnahs offer uber comfort to your four legged friend.

Engel's numnahs are made with one inch of Merino sheepskin, which looks fantastic and provides unrivalled protection with over 3000 fibres per sq inch and each fibre designed like a shock absorber.

The natural wicking properties of sheepskin mean it soaks up and dissipates the sweat from your horse keeping them cool, protecting them from rubbing and chaffing and generally keeping them more comfortable.

Engel products are made by U.S Sheepskin Inc., which is one of the largest sheepskin manufacturers in the U.S and Canada. Their number one goal is to continue to improve the quality and design of their products, but when you feel these in person you will really wonder how they can improve them. Glaze & Gordon are seriously impressed, and we are hard people to please when it comes to the comfort of our horses.

After having some saddle fitting issues in the past, we wanted to take our saddlers advice and provide our horses with the best sheepskin we could find. We searched high and low, all the quality products had a very hefty price tag, until Becs found Engel in the US. We love them, and will continue to use them for our own horses.

This half lined numnah is perfect for every discipline, it is the lightest of Engel's products so you still have that close contact feel with the horse. Fantastic as a shock absorber for jumping, or protecting your horses skin when you are spending a long time in the saddle.

Material: Cotton quilting with Merino Sheepskin lining

Care: Regular Maintenance – Sheepskin saddle pads must be allowed to dry between rides so that the sheepskin is given a chance to stabilize. Prolonged use of a pad without proper drying may cause stretching or contorting of the leather resulting in damage to your saddle pad. Once the pad is dry, a light brushing of the sheepskin with a pet brush will separate the wool fibres and help to keep the wool fluffy and resilient for the next ride.

Washing – Sheepskin saddle pads should be hand washed in cold water using a mild soap designed for sheepskin. We offer one of the best sheepskin detergents on the market, manufactured by Eucalan. Two other detergents that have posted good results and can be purchased off-the-shelf are Johnson n Johnson baby shampoo and Ivory Snow Flakes. It is not suggested to wash saddle pads in the washing machine because we find that the 'agitator' can be ruff on the sheepskin and on the finely stitched quilt. Remove excess water in the pad by carefully squeezing the water out or placing in your washing machine on the spin cycle only. Do not wring the pad out as it may result in damaging the pad.

Drying – Sheepskin saddle pads should be line dried out of the sun. Lightly stretch the pad during the drying process to avoid shrinkage. Please do not put this pad in the dryer or on a heating device. Once dry, lightly brush the sheepskin with a pet brush to separate the wool fibres.
