We have worked with the AST and the classic needlepoint company Smathers & Branson to create this beautiful, classic Salmon design on a dark blue background. A must for any salmon and fly fishing enthusiast.

The hand-stitched traditional belts take up to 20 hours to create and are 1.25" wide, finished with full grain, vegetable tanned Italian leather and a solid brass buckle. These are made to last - they look and feel outstanding.

We have also designed a hand-stitched key fob featuring the same salmon design and top-grade leather which makes a special gift for any salmon enthusiast.

The Atlantic Salmon Trust exists solely for the protection of wild salmon and sea trout. Its aim is to create a positive future for these threatened species; using scientific research to understand their decline and put evidence-based solutions into practice to better protect them.

About Smathers & Branson

Smathers & Branson have created these exquisite belts (and other accessories) by searching high and low for the best Artisans in the business, and finding him in Vietnam. Each belt involves over 14,000 hand-stitches and takes 15-20 hours to create and assemble – the incredible art of Needlepoint is time consuming, but Smathers & Branson have helped to create a Cottage Industry in Vietnamese villages supplying hundreds of people with a flexible job and income to aid their lifestyles.

Smathers & Branson joined forces in 2004, after looking to buy needlepoint belts and realising there was not a company that created the finished item. The biggest challenge they faced was finding an artisan skilled enough to create a product to the perfect standard they were looking for – but after spending time in Vietnam and meeting with stitchers face to face to outline exactly what it was they were seeking they found their artisans and have formed an incredible working relationship. Their new partner had plans to teach their needlepoint craft to 100 of his fellow villagers to provide jobs in the community, that were flexible around the rice harvest in the area. This mutualistic relationship has continued to grow; the villagers have been provided with a wonderful opportunity whilst creating beautiful, individual pieces for Smathers & Branson. Since the success of the belts, the company has gone on to make lots of different needlepoint accessories – all special, unique and make a wonderful addition to our Glaze & Gordon range.

Everything about these belts is inspiring; the precise skill in the needlepoint, the social responsibility in the craftmanship and the flawless materials used. The Glazes and the Gordons love a good belt, and the impeccable designs of the Smathers & Branson belts suit everyone in the family.

You are guaranteed to find a design to suit even the hardest to please out of your family and friends, and this makes these belts a wonderful gift opportunity for any occasion.

Approximate size guide:

For men: Add 2 inches your trouser size e.g. someone who wears a 36” would take a 38” belt. When the trouser is an odd size, increase the belt size by 3 inches (i.e. a size 33 wears a size 36 belt).

For women: Approx. UK size 6=28” belt, UK size 10=32” belt, UK size 12=34” belt, UK size 14=36” ‘belt, UK size  16=38”, UK size 18=40”. If between sizes choose the larger size belt e.g. UK size 10/12 = 34” belt

Exact size guide:

Measure a belt that fits well from where the leather starts (bottom of the buckle) to the centre hole, as per the diagram below. This measurement is the ideal belt size e.g. if the measurement is 36", we would recommend a 36 belt

If the measurement is in-between sizes or an uneven size, we recommend rounding up to the next even inch to get the size.

Brass can be cleaned with a regular brass polishing product, but be careful not to spill onto the leather or the cotton.
